Jade Bonsai Tree Information

The success of your bonsai depends on a variety of factors, most notably watering and light. Below are some species specific guidelines to follow that will help ensure that your bonsai will stay healthy and happy.

Pruning Tips:
Jade back bud very easily. Pinch off leaves growing on the underside of branches to improve the overall appearance of the tree. Branches can be cut at any location to encourage backbudding.

Fertilizing:
We recommend fertilizing your bonsai tree every month with a bonsai fertilizer. Time release granules are the easiest to use and can be added every season. Reduce the amount of fertilizer during the winter. Take care to not over-fertilize as this can cause your leaves to burn or grow too leggy.

Lighting:
Cork Jades can thrive both indoor and outdoor. They prefer full sun for the best growth.

Temperature Requirements:
Protect the jade from cold weather. We recommend bringing the tree inside when the temperature begins to drop.

Watering Requirements:
The Cork Jade prefers to be watered only when it is dry. Overwatering will lead to tree rot.

Repotting:
Repot every three yaers during late winter and early spring. Cut off 1/3 of the root ball and refill empty space with soil. Do not water for 3 days after repotting.

Indoor / Outdoor:
The Cork Jade does best in both indoor and outdoor settings.
