|The success of your plant depends on a variety of factors, most notably watering and light. Below are some species specific guidelines to follow that will help ensure that your plant will stay healthy and happy. |
Peperomia obtusifolia has a relatively fast growth rate. Trailing stems can grow up to 3 to 4 feet per year, depending on care and lighting conditions. Stems can be cut back to curb length, and leaves can be pinched back to encourage bushier growth. The foliage will continue to grow and elongate as the plant ages.
Peperomia obtusifolia has shallow root systems and does not need frequent fertilizing. We recommend fertilizing once a month during spring and summer growing months, and no feeding during dormant winter months.
This plant enjoys bright, indirect sunlight, but can tolerate low light conditions as well. Indoor settings are perfect for this type of plant.
|Temperature Requirements: |
The Baby Rubber Plant enjoys mild, indoor temperatures and high humidity.
Water your plant once the soil begins to look dry, about once a week for average indoor conditions. If the soil dries out too much, leaves will begin to wrinkle or shrivel. If leaves sag or drop, then watch out for overwatering. Mist daily if kept in dry environment.
Baby Rubber Plants do not require frequent repotting due to their shallow root systems. Plant can be kept in the same planter for years before requiring repotting. Transplant when roots begin to outgrow its current planter.
